Russia welcomed changes in the US National Security Strategy, saying the adjustments marked a radical departure from Washington’s previous policy and were “largely consistent” with Moscow’s vision.

“The adjustments we’re seeing, I would say, are largely consistent with our vision,” Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, said in an interview with state TV station Rossiya, which aired on Sunday.
“And, perhaps, we can hope that this could be a modest guarantee that we will be able to constructively continue our joint work on finding a peaceful settlement in Ukraine,” Mr Peskov added.
Since Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea and its 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine, US strategies have designated Moscow as a major threat. However, the updated US policy, announced on Friday, adopts a softer tone, urging limited cooperation.
