Zitat:
why is anyone suprised at this, it shows the world that lybia was better off under gaddaffi

Why is anyone surprised - anyone with half a brain knew that Islamic extremism would fill the vacuum left by Gaddafi. Another master stroke by our Government - Cameron is the heir to Blair in so many ways.

So, basically, Ghaddafi respected, protected and tended these graves for forty years (even after he was bombed in the eighties and his daughter killed by a UK/USA unlawful bombing raid), yet as soon as rebels we supported in Benghazi took over they desecrated them. I wonder what the kneejerk DM reader reaction will be *this* time?

Now you know why Gaddafi was so ruthless. He had to be to control this lot of vile animals. We should have left him too it!

There was law and order under Gadaffi . Thanks for nothing , Cameron and Sarkozy .

Nobody was 'liberated'. A new bunch of fanatics was helped to replace the old bunch of fanatics. When will western governments learn to stop interfering in the problems of others, and look after their own?

Cameron and clegg along with Blair and Brown.Should be sent to the tower of London with immediate effect for crimes against the British people. The traitorous B******s.

This would never had happened under Gaddafi, if proof was needed that the so-called "rebels"were uneducated fundamentalist riff-raff, this is it. Our glorious leaders,- I'm being sarcastic here- CMD & Vague Hague, are in grave danger of making the same hideous mistake in Syria.

I spent 6 years in Tripoli in the 80's. Each Rememberance Day we attended the memorial service in Tripoli, I remember on headstone that said 'Into the mosaic of life I place this precious piece, my son'. It made me cry then and still does when I remember it. Desecration of any sort is abhorant. I have a lot of affection for Libya and the Libyan people, however when the UK was helping the rebels it worried me that we did not know who they were and their ultimate agenda. Gaddaffi for all his faults kept the fanatics at bay and Libya was tolerant of all religions, there were Catholic and Anglican churches and each Christmas we would attend a carol service, I did not have to cover myself from head to foot and the local people were very friendly and helpful towards westerners. Sometimes we have to be careful what we wish for and the so called 'liberation'of Libya may cause more problems for the Libyan people as well as the west than it solved.

Even under the worst of Anglo-Libyan relations, nothing like this ever happened under Gadaffi. Cameron installed a week puppet regime that was quickly deposed and has led to open anarchy across Libya, now Al Qaeda and the fundamentalists are taking control. To save Cameron's blushed a voluntary blackout imposed on Libyan coverage when the "victory" turned sour.

It is interesting that no matter how much Gaddafi fell out with this country, he never once laid a finger on our war graves.
