Van Morrison: "Into the Mystic" vom Album "Moondance", 1970.
When that fog horn blows / you know I will be coming home / And when that fog horn whistle blows / I got to hear it, I don't have to fear it / And I want to rock your gypsy soul / Just like way back in the days of old / And together we will flow / Into the mystic
Van Morrison: "Madame George" vom Album "Astral Weeks", 1968.
And you know you gotta go / On that train from Dublin up to Sandy Row / Throwing pennies at the bridges down below / And the rain, hail, sleet, and snow / Say goodbye to Madame George
The Pogues: "The Broad Majestic Shannon" vom Album "If I Should Fall From Grace With God", 1987.
I sat for a while by the gap in the wall / Found a rusty tin can and an old hurley ball / Heard the cards being dealt, and the rosary called / And a fiddle playing 'Sean Dun Na nGall'
The Pogues: "Misty Morning, Albert Bridge" vom Album "Peace & Love", 1989.
I dreamt we were standing by the banks of the Thames / Where the cold grey waters ripple in the misty morning light / Held a match to your cigarette, watched the smoke curl in the mist / Your eyes, blue as the ocean between us smiling at me
Current 93: "In The Heart Of The Wood (And What I Found There)" vom Album "Thunder Perfect Mind", 1992.
In the heart of the wood / In the closed forest / Christ appeared to me / In several forms
Death In June: "Cathedral Of Tears" von der gleichnamigen EP, 1993.I cannot right / What I have done wrong / And we will never return / To where we have gone / Overwhelm me / With nothing but nothing and nothing
Hubert von Goisern: "Da Summer is aussi" vom Album "Trad", 2001.
So hart wia ma heit is, is ma a nu nia gwen / Als miasst i meine Hüttn heit as letzte mal sehn / Ud miasst i gar bald scho zur erd und zur ruah / ja, dann deckts mi mit felsstoa und almbleamaln zua
Lyle Lovett: "Highway Kind" (Townes van Zandt Cover) vom Album "Step Inside This House", 1998.
Pour the sun upon the ground / Stand to throw a shadow / Watch it grow into a night / And fill the spinnin' sky
So, das war's für's erste. Natürlich immer etwas willkürlich, so eine Auswahl. Aber dennoch repräsentativ. Bin gespannt auf Eure Beiträge! :]
