The International Monetary Fund is poised to embark on what analysts have described as "global quantitative easing" by printing billions of dollars worth of a global "super-currency" in an unprecedented new effort to address the economic crisis.

Alistair Darling and senior figures in the US Treasury have been encouraging the Fund to issue hundreds of billions of dollars worth of so-called Special Drawing Rights in the coming months as part of its campaign to prevent the recession from turning into a global depression. [...]
The idea has been suggested by a number of key figures, including billionaire investor George Soros and US Treasury adviser Ted Truman.
Simon Johnson, former chief economist at the IMF, said: "The principle behind it is that everyone would get bonus dollars and instead of the Federal Reserve having to print them, everyone gets them.""

MOSKAU, 16. März (RIA Novosti). Russland schlägt den führenden Industrie- und Schwellenländern (G20) vor, eine supranationale Reservewährung zu vereinbaren.
Als Grundlage für die „Superreservewährung“ könnte das Sonderziehungsrecht des Internationalen Währungsfonds (IWF) dienen, heißt es auf der Webseite des Kreml anlässlich des bevorstehenden G20-Gipfels in London.
Zudem schlägt Russland vor, die Rolle und das Mandat des IWF zu revidieren. Diese sollen nämlich an die neue Währungs- und Finanzordnung angepasst werden, die aus der jetzigen Krise hervorgehen solle, hieß es."

MOSCOW, March 19 (Reuters) - China and other emerging nations back Russia's call for a discussion on how to replace the dollar as the world's primary reserve currency, a senior Russian government source said on Thursday. Russia has proposed the creation of a new reserve currency, to be issued by international financial institutions, among other measures in the text of its proposals to the April G20 summit published last Monday."

Irgendwie habe ich das ungute Gefühl dass jetzt die letzten Nationalen, wenn sie sich demnächst mit "Rosenberg hatte doch recht!" auf den Fahnen gegen den Welt-Monopol-Kapitalismus zu erheben versuchen, auf die Schlachtbank geführt werden sollen...
