Leicht verspätet möchte ich diesen Song des amerikanischen Sängers Garth Brooks vorstellen: "Belleau Wood".
In seinem Mittelpunkt steht ein historisches Ereignis, nämlich ein kurzzeitiger Waffenstillstand in der Weihnachtsnacht 1917 an der Front in Frankreich - zwischen amerikanischen und deutschen Truppen.

(Diese Schlacht fand im Frühjahr 1918 statt. Die Truppen beider Seiten lagen sich aber offenbar schon im Winter an der erstarrten Front gegenüber.)
Der Waffenstillstand, während dessen sich die Soldaten beider Seiten unmittelbar begegnen und zusammen "Stille Nacht" - jeder in seiner Sprache - singen, währt nur eine Stunde. Um Mitternacht setzt das Artilleriefeuer von beiden Seiten wieder ein.
